The Death of Miser. El Bosco. Flemish painting.

*It is at El Prado. Madrid.
*Lines and drawings predominate over colour.
*It shows what was happening in Europe. He (El Bosco) belonged to a religious group (a sect) separated from the Catholic Church.
*Death is represented. It touches with her rod or hoe.
*There is a fight between well and evil. The miser is in bed and he is about to die. There is a devil who is offering the last temptation (bag of money) The miser seems to accept the devil´s last temptation (greed is one of the capital sins) The devil wants  to take his soul to hell. The angel tries to protect him and looks at the window where Christ is with his light.
*The man next to the chest is the miser himself showing what he had been doing in life. He´s wearing poor clothes as he prefers saving money than spending it. So he leaves the pieces of silk apart. The devil is in the chest accepting what the miser offers. He holds a key and a rosary. (He  can have faith but he´still greedy)
*The black winged creature is thought to be the painter´s self portrait. (It can also be seen in "Garden of Heavenly Delights).
*The armour shows the way he made his fortune. Now it lies on the floor without any importance.

*The letter (damnation letter?).
*The tail is supposed to be the devil´s. (Like the one of the devil over the bed)
*Stained glass (it shows the style of    the cathedrals).
*The hanging curtain over the bed is like the one we can see in "Arnolfini portrait".

A tribute to London.

I´m  back from London. Once again the mist and the rain wouldn´t miss this new occasion.
Some remarkable ideas come to my mind at this time of rest and memories:
London is as great as the struggle of so many people to earn their lives. This city is a tribute to all these survival adventures.
London is a brilliant example of wisdom. It knows how to combine modernity with its deepest traditions. This is exactly what makes it different.
National Gallery. Trafalgar Square. Whitehall and... Benjamin´s.

Medieval guilds.

*What was a guild?
*What were guilds created for?
*What was decided by the guilds?
*How old were the people when they joined a guild?
*How did they help people?
*At what stage were the members paid?
